A modern office chair consists of two main parts - an adjustable seat with a backrest and a support part with adjustable height on caster wheels.

Seat with backrest

It can be made in the form of a monoblock solution, to which armrests can be attached. But usually the back comes separately. In this case, the composition of the kit is as follows:

  • back;
  • mechanism for adjusting and connecting the seat with the backrest;
  • seat;
  • armrests.

Step-by-step instructions for assembling the chair

Assembly will be quick and enjoyable if you follow the sequence we suggested.

Install the rollers into the slots

With a little force, insert the wheels into the holes on the chair legs

First, install the rollers into the crosspiece - to do this, insert them with their rods into the holes on the bottom surface of the crosspiece and press firmly until they click. You can use a rubber mallet, but it is not recommended to hit the plastic parts of the parts too hard.

After all the wheels have been inserted, place them on the floor and press the entire body onto the legs of the office chair

Prepare the seat

Attach the piaster to the bottom of the seat using bolts

Attach the backrest adjustment mechanism to the back of the seat and the piastres to the bottom.

IMPORTANT! When installing, make sure that each screw is equipped with two types of washers - flat (it increases the contact area of the inner surface of the head) and lock - to prevent the nut from unscrewing.

Manufacturers offer various options for devices that regulate the position of the backrest and seat to suit the characteristics of the spine of a sitting person. The most common:

The correct location of the socket and adjusting screw is indicated by the arrow

When installing, please note that the seat for the gas lift rod should be directed forward, and the adjacent adjusting screw with a plastic handle should be directed back. Insert the armrest brackets into the side slots and tighten with screws.

Installing armrests on both sides of the chair

Put the backrest on and tighten it with the adjusting screw.

Installing and screwing the backrest of the chair

Install the gas lift into the crosspiece

Assembled casing-cover and gas lift - shock absorber for the chair

Remove the protective caps from the ends of the gas lift and insert it with its base into the upper central hole of the cross. Assemble the casing - it is often made of several parts connected according to the principle of a telescopic pipe and put it on the gas lift. Insert it into the center hole of the cross. You have assembled the load-bearing part.

Place the seat on the gas lift rod and press firmly or sit on it - this is necessary for a strong fixation to occur.

Press with your hands to ensure fixation occurs.

Carry out assembly quality control

We sit down on a comfortable chair and check the success of the assembly

While sitting on a chair, press down on the piastres lever. The seat will lower. Pull the lever up. If there is a return to its original position, then the assembly was successful.

So, you assembled a new office chair without the help of your boss, and now you won’t give it to anyone.

Assembling the office chair takes 30 minutes. The only tool you will need is a screwdriver, and if you don’t have one, a screwdriver will do.

Of course, you don’t have to do the installation yourself. Companies that sell office furniture usually offer to include the cost of assembly in the price of the product. This is an inexpensive service, optimal for those who save their time.

If you want to do it yourself, first learn how to assemble a computer chair. We will talk about this in the article.

Checking the completeness of the set

The standard kit consists of the following elements:

  • rollers - 5 pcs;
  • crosspiece, sometimes with overlays;
  • gas lift and casing for it;
  • armrests;
  • seat and backrest can be in the form of a monoblock;
  • screws and screws;
  • hex key if the fasteners have corresponding holes.

Assembling the cross

Installation begins from the bottom structural element.

The rollers are inserted into the beams of the cross. No tools are needed for this - just press hard on the wheel. If you don't have enough strength, use a rubber hammer. Keep in mind that you cannot knock on the rollers themselves - they are very fragile. For the same reason, you should not use a metal hammer. The correct sequence of actions is to gently tap the base between the spheres until the wheel enters the beam.

Then the crosspiece is turned over, a gas lift is inserted into its center, and a casing is put on it.

Attention: If there is a cap on the gas lift button - it is located on top - remove it. Otherwise, the chair will not rise and fall.

Assembling the seat

Turn the seat over. Attach with bolts:

  • adjustment mechanism for the backrest - on the back of the seat;
  • piastra - on the lower one;
  • armrests - to the base.

Attention: Make sure each screw has two washers. Flat - to increase the contact area, and locking - preventing the nut from unscrewing.

Connect the seat with screwed armrests and the base. To do this, install the shock absorber in the tube. Ready!

We check the functionality and eliminate breakdowns

Making sure everything is in order is simple. Sit on the chair and press the lever: the seat will go down. Pull up: if you have connected the components correctly, you will return to the original position. If not, perhaps some structural element is faulty or the connection is loose.

Common problems and ways to solve them are in the table.

How to assemble a computer chair: video

An office is a place where people spend time, where at least 1/3 of their life is devoted. This is precisely what becomes necessary to create comfortable living conditions in the workplace. Gone are the days when people had an angular wooden table and the same chair installed at their workplace, because... The 21st century implies convenience in everything. A light chipboard table and an office chair have made working time much more comfortable compared to the old days, but not everyone knows how to assemble an office chair. But sometimes the instructions cannot help with this for various reasons.

Office chairs and computer chairs usually have the same look because... Designed for use at a desk/desk.

It’s worth noting right away that the concepts of office chair and computer chair mean the same thing, because Rarely is a workplace devoid of this attribute of modernity.

Everyone should know how to assemble a computer chair, and this can be done without much effort. The skill is very useful, because... Hiring specialists in this field is at least pointless.

Self-installation

The whole process begins from the lower moving part. Under no circumstances should you start assembly from the seat, because... then there will be complications in the final configuration. Also, we must not forget that assembly is carried out not on the floor, but on a surface (it is advisable to use a box, since its physical parameters are ideal for the future chair).

  • you need to find a cross. Usually it has from 4 to 6 blades, but sometimes there are 8. It turns over and lays on the box. The surface must be soft, because you will have to apply force to get the roller into place (you need to press until it clicks). If the roller does not go, then there is no need to increase the pressure, and most likely there is a groove in the design so that it can simply be loaded without a click. Thus, you need to install all the rollers - with a full hand, each one takes no more than 5-10 seconds;
  • The shock absorber has the form of a tube and a synthetic enveloping material. The shock absorber is installed with the open tube facing up (towards the seat). During installation, minimal free play is possible (it will eliminate itself during operation), but it is better that it does not exist;
  • the glass is going. Typically, the kit comes with 3 through cylinders, which fit into each other according to size. Alternatively, they can be put on the shock absorber in turn from smallest to largest. The function of the glasses is 90% visual and 10% safety (if something unexpected happens, there will be a chance to carefully get out of the chair without getting any injuries).

At this point, the supporting part is considered completed, and you can proceed to the chair itself. It’s already visually clear where the fulcrum will be and what to expect in the future, so the procedure is as follows:

  • the seat is turned over with its “front” side on the box, and in the center of the base there is a platform for the mounting system. This system will ensure a reliable transition from the chair leg to the seat (it is advisable to purchase a metal base, but this is not always possible, so you need to carefully look at the quality of the plastic). All fastenings are made using screws, the number of which is from 4 to 8 (when applying the plate to the seat, the holes will match perfectly);
  • the armrests will serve to connect the seat to the backrest. To install them, you just need to move the seat a little to the edge of the working surface and you can screw it on (if the assembly takes place on a box, you don’t even have to move it, because the dimensions of the box are specially made by the manufacturer for ease of assembly). To fix each armrest, 2-3 screws are provided;
  • the entire resulting composition is moved to the edge of the box so that only 2/3 remains on the surface. The backrest is applied to the armrests from the inside, and fixed in the manner described above. At the same stage, it is imperative to check the quality of all threaded connections of the chair, because then such an opportunity will no longer arise;
  • all visible places of bolted connections are closed with special plugs that match the color of the armrests. You don’t need any tools here, but you will have to apply force (sometimes until it clicks - you need to look at the plugs).

Once the top and bottom parts have been assembled, they can be joined together. To do this, simply install the shock absorber into the tube (do not confuse it with a lever, because in some models this is possible - if you press the button too hard, it will press through, but this will be a reason to purchase a new chair).

After a long procedure of choosing an office chair, there comes a time when you brought the treasured box home and you want to very quickly turn a pile of spare parts into that beautiful chair that you bought.

Assembling any chair, be it an office chair, a child's chair or an executive's computer chair, has a similar procedure and does not take much effort and time.

Let's look at how to properly assemble a computer chair on wheels.

Step 1. When unpacking the office chair box, carefully inspect all the items in the package. There should be no chips, cracks or cuts on them. The standard set consists of the following elements:

Rollers (wheels) 5 pcs;
- crosspiece, if necessary, then pads on the crosspiece;
- pneumatic cartridge (gas lift);
- gas lift casing (telescope);
- set of screws;
- armrests 2pcs;
- seat and back (or monoblock)

Mechanism for connecting the backrest with the seat or permanent contact (only for operator chairs).
If everything is included in the kit, then you can proceed to assembling the chair. Save the packaging until assembly is complete.

Step 2. Initially, you need to insert the rollers (wheels) into the cross. To do this, you need to press hard on the wheel and the pin will enter the beam of the cross. For convenience, you need to place the cross on a flat surface. If you cannot insert the wheel by hand, you can use a rubber pusher. Very carefully tap the hammer between the two spheres of the wheel, on the base; do not hit the wheels themselves. Be careful, the wheel is made of plastic and can crack if hit directly. When the wheels are inserted, turn the cross over with the wheels down and install the gas cartridge in its middle. After installation, put the decorative casing (telescope) on it. Pay attention to the top of the gas cartridge; some manufacturers may have a decorative cap on the gas cartridge button (plastic button on top); it can be easily removed by hand. If it is not removed, the chair may not rise or fall in the future.

Step 3. Let's move on to installing the armrests. Turn the seat over and inspect where the armrest is installed. The armrest is almost always secured with three screws. Take the armrest, carefully examine it and determine in which direction its front will be. All three screws must be installed in the holes. They must fit clearly into the thread. Everything must be done carefully so that the thread does not become knocked down. If the armrest is attached in one part to the metal base of the chair, similarly attach the armrests to the metal seat brackets with screws. Shade the screws.

Step 4. Place the assembled seat on the gas lift and push down from above, or sit on it, so that the gas cartridge fits tightly into the metal base of the chair.

Step 5. Next, if your chair has a permanent contact or just a corner. Then you need to insert its lower part into the seat mechanism. Screw it on with a large screw. Place the backrest onto the corner and then secure it with a short screw.

Step 6. Check functionality. Sit on the chair and pull the lever under the seat up. Typically, the chair should slowly lower down under the weight of the chair. Get up from the chair and pull the lever up, the chair should rise.

Now you have become a specialist in assembling chairs. Enjoy your use.

Some manufacturers do not have instructions for assembling the chair, or they only have them in a general form, like this picture.

And it is not always clear to the average person from such instructions, how to assemble a computer chair?

Unpacking an office (computer) chair.

When unpacking the chair, you must carefully inspect all parts of the product for scratches, torn surfaces and other defects. If surface defects are found, you must contact the store and decide whether to replace this part or the entire chair. If everything is fine with the chair, then you can proceed to the next stage: assembling it. Keep the packaging until assembly is completed.

Assembling an office (computer) chair.

We take out the cross base and insert the wheels into it. Usually the wheels are inserted manually (see figure),

you just need to press harder. If this does not work, then place the crosspiece on a flat surface and, gently tapping the wheel with a hammer, try to drive it into the bushing of the crosspiece. The blow must be struck between the two spheres of the wheel. Be careful, the plastic may crack.

Insert the gas cartridge (gas lift) into the hole in the center of the cross (see figure).

Then put a decorative casing on the gas cartridge, if available.(see figure) .

Now you can begin installing the armrests (see figure).

Typically, armrests are secured with three screws (two short and one long). If the fastening part of the armrest is made of metal, then it is necessary to install locking washers on the screws so that the armrests do not become loose in the future. If the armrest is entirely made of plastic, then the groovers are not necessary, because When tightening the screws, they go deeper into the plastic and are thereby reliably protected from loosening.

First, you need to tighten all the screws so that they fit neatly into the threads and subsequently there are no problems with tightening other screws. If you knock off the threads, it will be quite difficult to screw the armrests normally. And during use of such a chair, the armrest can quickly deteriorate.

Insert the corner into the seat mechanism (see figure) and fasten it with a large screw (lamb).

After this, we put the seat base on gas cartridge (see figure).

We put the backrest on the corner and fasten it with a smaller screw.(see figure) .

Checking the functionality of an office (computer) chair.

Sit on the chair and pull the lever up, which should be under the seat on the right side. At the same time, the chair should lower under the weight of the chair. Then stand up and pull the lever up again, the chair should rise. If nothing happens when you press the lever, the reason may be the following (remove the seat and check):

– there may be a protective cap on the gas cartridge button – just remove it (this happens rarely and on imported chairs);

– perhaps the lever (see figure) is bent and does not hit the gas cartridge button when pressed – try to carefully straighten it;

– the seat does not fit tightly on the gas cartridge and when you press the lever it does not reach the button – jump on the seat or ask a more well-fed person to sit on the chair;

– the gas cartridge is faulty - try pressing the gas cartridge button with your hand (in order for it to go down, you need to apply considerable force).
