Sims games. Character Creation Steps in The Sims Social Character Creation in The Sims 3

The developers of the game “The Sims” have released the third part under the slogan “Create your perfect character.” And all because the Sim creation editor has become much better than in The Sims 2, and the graphics are of better quality. We invite you to find out what it is like to create a Sims 3 character.

What does the character editor look like?

During character creation, you find yourself, as before, in the dressing room. The editorial panel itself has moved to left side screen and consists of such categories as:

  • basic;
  • hairstyle;
  • appearance;
  • cloth;
  • character.

Thanks to the tabs from these categories, you can create unusual Sims that are similar to you or someone you know.

Stages of Sim Creation

Creating a Sims 3 character involves going through the following steps:

  1. Select your Sim's first and last name, as well as their gender and supernatural type (human, fairy, vampire, genie, witch, werewolf).
  2. Sim's age (toddler, child, teen, young, adult, elderly).
  3. Skin tone.
  4. Features of body structure (fullness and muscularity).
  5. Choosing a hairstyle and hair color.
  6. Development of appearance (changes in the structure of the head, eye shape, shape of the nose, ears, lips, cheeks and cheekbones, chin, as well as determination of eye color).
  7. Creation of makeup and tattoos (optional).
  8. Then there is a selection of wardrobe (casual wear, suit, for sports, for sleeping, for swimming, outerwear).
  9. Creating a character (selection of traits), choosing a life goal and tone of voice, as well as a favorite dish, color and music.

Sims appearance

Creating a Sims 3 character involves making almost all of your dreams come true. By opening the "Appearance" tab, you can change the shape of the skull, eyes, lips, nose, and so on, opening categories:

  • head and ears;
  • eyes;
  • lips;
  • features (moles and hemp).

In each category, several standard forms of a particular organ are available. Also, using an additional tab, you can change almost everything. To do this, simply move the sliders and create the perfect Sims.

Also, don’t forget about the hairstyle, which can be chosen to suit every clothing style and body type (fullness and muscularity).

Creating unusual characters

With the release of the Supernatural expansion, it became possible to play as fairies, werewolves, genies, witches and vampires in The Sims 3. The character creation editor remains virtually unchanged. Simply in the "Basic" category, when you select the supernatural type "Fairy", the "Wings" tab will unlock. Here you can choose specific type wings and their color.

If you choose the Genie or Vampire type, then nothing new becomes available. Only the palette of skin tones changes. When you select the “Werewolf” type, you can customize two appearances - for a normal person and for a werewolf. To do this, you need to switch between views using the button that appears above the icon with the Sim below.

Creating a Sims 3 character with supernatural abilities will be incomplete if you don't pay attention to the features of the Sim's appearance. For example, a sim-fairy may have pointed ears and eyes of an unusual color, while genies and vampires may have an unusual skin type.

A game " The Sims Social is an explosive mixture, as it takes the best from The Sims and The Sims 3. Despite the fact that the exact release date was not announced by the developers, and according to preliminary data it was supposed to be released at the end of June, a beta version is available It's been a few days now.

The game is presented in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, but, unfortunately, there is no place for Russian in it. Especially for you, we decided to consider in detail the very beginning of any Sims games- character creation process and minimize the language barrier.

CAS

As in the PC version, you can create a Sim to your taste and color, using the proposed settings for this: choose clothes, skin color and, of course, give a name... There are two ways to switch to CAS mode: click on the “Clothes” emblem , or on the Sim himself, where from three options select the “Change appearance” item. A window will open with a large selection of different appearance settings.

Note: you will have to pay to change your hair color, hairstyle, clothes....

In-game currency is presented in three options:

Simoleons
- SimCash
- Social Points

Your Sim has already been provided with the minimum necessary for the game: dressed, shoes, combed. Let's take a separate look at each item of the proposed settings.

1. The primary and traditional task is to determine the gender of the character.

2. Have you already come up with a name for your ward?

3. Unfortunately, the game does not offer a large selection of skin colors or a range of shades, as is implemented in The Sims 3. There are only 8 colors to choose from, from almost white to dark chocolate. No matter how strange it may sound, you can change your skin color at any time, completely free of charge.

4. All Sims players, from first to third, are familiar with the “Outfits” tab, where you can choose an outfit for any occasion: casual, soft underwear, pajamas, formal or tracksuit.

5. You can rotate your Sim using the arrow keys, left or right.

6. Deciding on the main characteristics of the character is perhaps the most important and most difficult choice that you have to make, because it determines the entire style of the game. There are nine defining personality characteristics available: Geek - loves to learn; Creative - creator; Introvert - introvert; Tycoon - tycoon; Villain - criminal; Athlete - athlete; Socialite - socialite (leo); Rocker - rocker; Romantic - romantic. However, if suddenly after the start of the game you realized that you did not quite right choice, or you want variety - you can always change your personality characteristics for 50 SimCash.

The right panel contains 5 tabs and many subcategories. So what awaits us here...

"Head" tab - includes all kinds of appearance settings.
hair color
type of hairstyle
brows
eyes (color and shape)
nose
mouth
distinctive features (moles, freckles, scars)
headdress
accessories

"Top" tab - will help you choose the top part of your clothes.
Tops: T-shirts, Underwear
dresses: small selection of women's dresses
swimwear: also a small selection
accessories: gloves, tattoos, watches

"Bottom" tab - defines the corresponding bottom. Presented different kinds clothes and accessories for them: skirts, dresses, belts, pants.

The "Shoes" tab - respectively, allows you to select shoes and socks.
shoes: from flip-flops to sneakers
socks: tights, socks, stockings

The main disadvantage when creating a Sim in The Sims Social is that there are many categories and it can be quite difficult to navigate at first, but you will eventually get used to it!

Not a single part Sims"is not complete without creating your own individual characters. This is precisely one of the charms of the game. To sculpt Sims, the developers provide us with the so-called CAS (Create A Sim), also known as the character creation editor. It is different in each part, but many have probably noticed quite a lot of similarities between the editors The Sims Medieval And The Sims 3. What are their differences? You can learn about this from this review.

The Sims Medieval not such a large-scale project as The Sims 3. Only one addition has been created for it, and the gameplay contains more elements of the strategy genre than a life simulator. Also, due to the narrower focus of the game, there are fewer opportunities in it. This also applies to the character creation editor. And to understand how much less, it’s worth taking a closer look and comparing in both games.

1. Ability to create a character

Of course, at the very beginning of the game we are interested in the question: when can I create a Sim? It would seem that this can always be done, but no! IN The Sims Medieval this is only possible when a new hero needs to be created in the kingdom. IN The Sims 3 We are given this opportunity at any time: you can create a Sim immediately after starting the game, or later go into city change mode and use CAS.

2. Loading screen

It’s no wonder that before getting into CAS we need to go through loading it. The first thing that catches your eye is the different design. IN " Sims 3", as in previous parts, the developers stick to blue and cyan tones. " Middle Ages» is decorated in shades of brown.

The next point that you involuntarily pay attention to is the design. IN The Sims 3 a wheel of figures vaguely reminiscent of curved trapezoids spins around it throughout the entire load. IN The Sims Medieval around the crystal, green stripes light up sequentially, by which you can track how much longer to wait before entering the character creation room.
Speaking of time! Of course, it will also vary depending on the presence of add-ons and custom content in the game. The characteristics of the computer will also play a role. Loading is slower on weaker ones, faster on powerful ones.

3. Registration of CAS

As they say, you meet someone by their clothes. So we first get the impression of the game through visual contact. As usual for us, the Sim is located on the right side, there is a mirror behind him, and on the left there is a window and an interface familiar to us. This is where the similarities end, and players immediately notice the different design of the rooms: modern and medieval.

Then attention turns to the character's graphics. For the most visual comparison, I took the same SIM card, which looked either more modern or like a medieval person, without taking into account clothes or hairstyle. Thanks to somewhat specific graphics The Sims Medieval, the developers managed to convey the spirit of those times, in particular emphasizing this with a bright blush on the cheeks.
Taking a closer look at the interface, we notice that in “ Middle Ages“There is no “Character” section, which has moved to the “Basic” tab, but more on this in another paragraph. Let's look at the panel in the lower left corner, which contains a smaller icon of our character and a library of ready-made Sims. Firstly, the device for saving characters and the library itself is implemented slightly differently. Secondly, in " Sims 3“There is the possibility of creating several Sims at the same time, uniting them with family ties and creating pets if a certain add-on is available. The Sims Medieval offers us the creation of only one hero.
When we finally receive all the visual information, then, willy-nilly, we pay attention to the musical design. In both games, the music is neutral and does not distract from sculpting the Sim, the only difference is that in The Sims Medieval more emphasis is placed on medieval motifs.

4. Character library

It would seem that there could be differences here, but they still exist. Since in The Sims Medieval There is only one age category of characters and there are no pets; they can only be sorted by gender. IN The Sims 3 The choice of sorting increases due to the presence of several age categories. With the Pets add-on, it becomes possible to weed out Sims from their four-legged friends. By the way, for each type of pet there are also different sorting options.
You can also notice that in the character repository " Middle Ages"There is no button that allows you to publish them directly from the game.

5. Character information

Modeling a Sim, as a rule, begins with filling out information about him in the “Basic” section, and here we again come across differences. IN The Sims Medieval Here you can find all the information about your Sim, divided into two tabs. The first is responsible for name, gender and voice; the second - for the body, skin color and character.

IN " Sims 3“information about the character is much more multifaceted, and therefore was initially distributed by the developers into two different sections: “Basic” and “Character”. Also, the second section is divided into three more tabs, where you can directly select your character, dream, tastes, voice and zodiac sign. " Sims 3» already at this stage provides a much wider range of options for sculpting characters. Also, the variety of character traits, dreams and taste preferences will depend on the number of installed add-ons.

Now let's take a closer look at each difference in the basic information.
The Sims Medieval The Sims 3
Name generator Generates names typical of the Middle Ages. Generates names characteristic of our time, mainly American.
Age It is adjusted with the “Age Management” slider and only adds wrinkles to the face and does not change over the course of the game. You cannot create children in CAS. An age category is selected from baby to old man, which changes as the game progresses with aging turned on. Blush The natural blush can be adjusted using the “facial features” slider. Blush can only be achieved with cosmetics. Leather You can choose a color from the options offered in the game; there is no option to customize the shade. You can choose a color from the options offered in the game and adjust the hue using the slider. Above. type There are no supernatural creatures in the game. With the Twilight and Supernatural addons, it becomes possible to create vampires, werewolves, fairies, ghosts and witches. Werewolves can customize their wolf form, fairies can choose the color and type of wings, and ghosts can choose the type of death. Body There are no sliders to adjust muscle definition and breast size. Sliders that regulate muscle definition and breast size are present. Voice There are four voices that can be used to change the tone. There are three voices that can be used to change the tone. Character You can only choose three character traits, one of which must be a fatal flaw that has a negative impact on the character during the game. After completing certain quests, the Fatal Flaw can be replaced with a Legendary Trait. You can choose up to five character traits, there is no fatal flaw. During the game, for achieving certain goals, you can choose an additional character trait without replacing existing ones. Lifetime dream Absent. Present. Zodiac sign Absent. Present. Flavors None. Present.

6. Hair

At first glance, only the hairstyles and hair textures differ between the games. There is also a division into simple hairstyles and those with headdresses. It is possible to dye your hair any color. Then where is the difference? The difference is in the parts available for repainting. If in The Sims 3 you can separately select the color for the roots, base, highlights and ends, then in The Sims Medieval Only base and highlights are available for repainting. But for hairstyles without a headdress, there is the opportunity to choose the color of elastic bands and hairpins, if available.

It is also worth noting that in " Sims 3"there is an opportunity to add body hair to men, which cannot be done in " Sims Medieval" However, in most cases this vegetation would not be visible behind medieval costumes. You can choose your facial hair and eyebrow type in both games.

7. Face

In the process of creating a character, we rarely think about the number of sliders and only upon closer examination do we notice that their number varies in games. Moreover, it is curious that not for every part of the face in The Sims 3 there are more sliders. Some aspects of appearance The Sims Medieval can be configured in more detail. Typically, this difference occurs due to the fact that two sliders are responsible for the same function, thereby increasing the range of change of a particular body part. For example, the “Ear Sharpness” and “Alien Ears” sliders control how sharp the character’s ears will be. Likewise with the “Openness” and “Turn” of the nostril. You can also notice that the names of some sliders are different, but in both games they perform the same functions. For example, the Nostril Softness slider is identical to the Nostril Shape slider.

A total of sliders in " Sims 3» more, but there are a couple more advantages: the presence of tattoos, freckles and moles. IN " Middle Ages"Tattoos are only present as part of some costumes that came with the add-on" Pirates and Nobles" Cosmetics will not be left without attention. It is quite obvious that in The Sims 3 there is much more of it. In addition, you can choose makeup for your Sim.

8. Clothes

Again, the first thing the eye catches is the variety of clothes in “ Sims 3" compared to " Middle Ages" But, besides quantity, there is another important difference, namely the categories of clothing. IN The Sims Medieval We have access to only the hero’s everyday costume, which comes in its entirety, without the ability to combine any of its parts or select shoes or accessories separately. For characters of different professions, only clothing that matches their social status. For example, a blacksmith will never be able to walk around in the rich clothes of a monarch.
IN The Sims 3 There is a division of clothing into casual, outerwear, dress, sports, nightwear and swimsuit. In each category, you can combine the top and bottom, or use a one-piece suit. Shoes and accessories are also available for selection.

9. Style Creation Editor

The difference between the style editors present in both games is insignificant at first glance, but in reality it is huge. IN The Sims Medieval there is no choice of materials and patterns for clothing, which is why the variety of costumes becomes much more meager than in The Sims 3.

10. Go to CAS during the game

Sometimes during the game it may become necessary to change clothes, comb hair, or make up a Sim differently, and the player will need to go to the creation room again. IN The Sims Medieval With this, things are easier than ever, since you can change your clothes, hairstyle, and makeup using the closet. IN The Sims 3 you will have to perform more actions: change your hair and makeup using a mirror, change clothes using a closet or chest of drawers. Although the process can be greatly simplified by using the stylist's workshop that came with the Career add-on. By the way, when using it, CAS looks a little different, whereas in “ Middle Ages"The room always looks the same.

11. Completing character creation

Now we have come to the final stage of sculpting a Sim. It's time to click the coveted checkbox and go into the game, but before that we just have to look at the last difference. Once we confirm that we have completed character creation, The Sims Medieval releases us from CAS without questions when The Sims 3 proposes to change the relationship between Sims and shows the created family in a frame, stylizing it as a photograph. In addition to setting up relationships, here you can change the name of the family in case you have characters with different surnames living under the same roof.

This concludes our comparison of character creation editors. To summarize, we can say that each CAS is well thought out by the developers and is perfect for its game. What is more similar or different is up to the players to judge.

Many have already become its proud owner and are completely immersed in the knowledge of the innovations he brought to the game (including me).

I’ll start the review of new products with the character creation editor; I, like any Simomaniac, am attracted by new objects and added features in CAS.

1. Body hair.

The most interesting thing that added realism was the appearance of body hair on male characters.

We have at our disposal several places on a Sim's body where we can add hair, including the back, chest, arms, legs and even feet. The color can be matched to the color of the hair on your head or choose a completely different shade.

Of course, you can’t really let your imagination run wild, because... large selection for thickness, no, but if you wish, you can create a young Sim, who is just beginning to develop bodily hairs, and a middle-aged macho man covered with a thick “fur coat” of hair.

2. New hairstyles.

The Sims 3 All ages were pleased with several new hairstyles, namely 5 female and 3 male, most of you could see them in the screenshots and videos for the add-on.

Added hairstyles for other age groups of Sims.

3. Clothes.

Besides, my second favorite place is outfits, the Sims 3 addition pleased all ages with them, the most interesting, in my opinion, are presented in the screenshots, I was especially pleased with the official men's outfit and the fact that new sportswear has appeared, now its variety in the wardrobe will become wider. As a rule, characters who are fond of cooking sometimes like to eat heartily and, as a result, gain weight, and in order to return them to their original physical shape, we send them to the gym to do weight loss exercises, so now the Sims will not worry about what to wear for the new guy in the gym.

4. Character traits.

With addition Sims 3 All ages 2 character traits have appeared: Rebel and Loves Children, and if you have 4 addons, then you can create a truly unique Sim with his virtues, tastes, views and shortcomings.

Enjoy the game everyone, and I remind you that the most long-awaited addition, which will add animals to the game and make the life of virtual players brighter, is expected in October 2011.

The very first The Sims game was created by Maxis. When this game was released in 2000, it took the position of being the very first life simulator in the gaming industry. After the game's release, seven more updates and 2 exclusive editions were released with additional improvements. After some time, when the game proved itself to be in demand, the developers decided to create versions for several operating systems.

The second part of The Sims was released in 2004. The new part pleased the fans big amount innovations and improvements. The virtual world of Sims has become three-dimensional. Now players can observe the system of desires and fears of their characters, which shows them at what time the baby should start learning to walk, when he should be able to talk, and so on. What kind of mood your Sim is in has everything to do with how conscientiously you fulfill their needs. These include eating, sleeping, toileting, hygiene and entertainment. There are also improvements in the house construction system. Now players can build foundations and build themselves four-story houses. Also, new cities have appeared, and you can settle your family in any of them. After some time, the developers released 8 add-ons and about 10 catalogs. Gamers were most pleased with the release of the Garden and Home catalogs.

New stage

In 2009, it became the period for the release of the third part. The main highlight of the new Sims, which completely changed the gameplay, was the presence of an open world. Now you can monitor how they go to work or to the store. You can visit your neighbors, you just have to call and warn them of your intentions. Valid new system Open Skills, which allows your Sims to become more developed and add knowledge to their heads about new areas of life. After the release of some thematic additions, it became possible to create basements in the heroes’ homes. Also, The Sims 3 introduced a system that sends your Sims to visit friends who also play the game. In total, 11 add-ons have already been released for this game.

From the moment the release of the new, fourth part of The Sims was announced, fans of the game have been waiting for its release with great anticipation. It would seem that there is nowhere else to improve this simulator, because in it you can already do everything that people do in the real world. But the developers still found something to please us with. Like previous parts, this game does not require an Internet connection. What's really amazing about this game is the new, more realistic and complete emote system, the updated hero creation editor and the updated construction mode. Now you can change the height of all buildings and foundations. The behavior and performance of the characters in the simulator are completely related to the state of mind they are in. That is, everything is almost the same as with real people. If a Sim is offended, then he begins to get angry and at this moment cannot do anything except show aggression towards his offender. If a Sim has disgraced himself in a public place, he will not be able to make contact with people for some time and will try to run away from there. Even a Sim's gait changes when something is wrong with their mood.

If we look at the fourth part for its shortcomings, then there are plenty of them. You can no longer move freely around the city here, which was typical for previous parts. Also, the game no longer allows you to buy a pool, a car, and much more. If you install special add-ons, then some of the features that were available in the previous parts return in the fourth part. Well, you can only control the lives of your characters, who live almost the same as we do in their virtual world.
