Agave juice treatment of chronic glomerulonephritis. Treatment of glomerulonephritis with traditional medicine. Treatment with folk remedies

When we talk about chronic glomerulonephritis, we mean a whole list of diseases, the common feature of which is damage to the glomeruli of the kidneys, which causes dysfunction of the filtering apparatus of this organ. Often, this disease subsequently leads to complications such as glomerulosclerosis and renal failure. Before starting treatment for chronic glomerulonephritis, it is necessary to consult a doctor for additional diagnostics aimed at establishing the root cause of the autoimmune disease. Only after this it becomes possible to prescribe an adequate treatment algorithm. To understand whether a patient can be cured of the glomerulonephritis that is aggravating his life forever, he must immediately begin all the necessary procedures and in no case delay solving the problem.

Patient management regimen

Depending on what type of similar disease is observed in a man or woman, the way in which chronic glomerulonephritis will be treated also differs. For example, if a patient is diagnosed with a latent or hematuric form of glomerulonephritis, he should adhere to an active lifestyle, and also completely exclude the possibility of hypothermia and vaccinations. In cases where the patient does not experience an exacerbation of chronic glomerulonephritis, he can engage in work without restrictions (the only exceptions are professions that involve the possibility of hypothermia or are associated with grueling physical labor), while the daily diet also remains unchanged. In this case, the use of medications is limited to minimal doses - Dipyridamole, 4-aminoquinolines (not on an ongoing basis), as well as some non-steroidal drugs with anti-inflammatory properties are used.

If an exacerbation of latent or hematuric glomerulonephritis occurs, a temporary restriction on work activity is introduced, and the patient is prescribed bed rest for 2-3 weeks from the start of treatment. In some cases, it becomes necessary to hospitalize the patient to determine the degree of activity, during which the issue of using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, 4-aminoquinolines, is decided. If there is a tendency to develop nephrotic syndrome, corticosteroids are often used. Patients with chronic glomerulonephritis of these types are prescribed observation at a dispensary 4 times a year (general examination, blood pressure measurement, clinical blood and urine analysis), and in addition, once a year a Zimnitsky test is taken, a study of the level of filtration in the glomeruli is carried out, as well as an analysis for the presence of creatinine in the blood serum. After an exacerbation has occurred, you should be examined by a doctor every month, providing the results of clinical urine and blood tests.

For the nephrotic form of chronic glomerulonephritis, doctors advise to moderately limit the patient’s general activity regimen, in no case allow hypothermia, and also refuse vaccinations. A restriction on work activities is also being introduced, and it is recommended to spend a couple of days a week observing semi-bed rest. Classes are useful physical therapy or preventive walking. In case of minor edema, outpatient treatment is prescribed, and when it becomes serious, immediate hospitalization of the patient in a hospital is required. At the same time, a strict restriction on the intake of table salt is introduced. Taking diuretics is often indicated. If nephrotic syndrome due to glomerulonephritis has been observed in a patient for more than two years, he is prescribed cytostatics, Heparin and Dipyridamole, and if large edema appears almost throughout the body, ultrafiltration is needed. When the disease progresses too quickly, a 4-component treatment algorithm is used, as well as hemosorption and plasmapheresis.

When a patient is diagnosed with hypertensive glomerulonephritis, he needs a moderate restriction of his daily routine, however, in the majority of cases, the ability to work of such patients is preserved, and only in some cases is it moderately reduced. With the gradual development of chronic renal failure A restriction is introduced on the intake of table salt in foods. At the same time, the use of hypertensive drugs is begun, aimed at reducing diastolic blood pressure to a level of less than 95 millimeters of mercury. If the disease progresses too quickly, cytostatics are administered, and in some cases Heparin is added (the required dosage should be carefully selected). The intake of glucocorticosteroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is completely limited.

In the case of the development of a mixed type of chronic glomerulonephritis, a serious restriction on physical and mental activity is introduced, and the patient must spend several days a week in bed. The use of antihypertensive drugs, as well as diuretics in the event of large edema, becomes mandatory. The diet is designed in such a way that the amount of table salt in the selected products is minimal. When the activity of glomerulonephritis becomes pronounced, doctors use cytostatics, Heparin and Dipyridamole. If hypertension during the disease is moderate, it is possible to combine the drugs described above with a small amount of corticosteroids (4-component regimen).

Medical nutrition

Due to a disorder of the kidneys, a change in the water-electrolyte balance of the blood occurs. In this case, the body loses essential nutrients, while metabolic products and toxins accumulate in its tissues. Because of this, it is necessary to follow an adequate diet that allows you to reduce negative impact on the human body associated with dysfunction of the renal apparatus due to glomerulonephritis. The most popular diet plan for such a disease is table number 7, distinctive features which are the following points:

  • reducing the amount of table salt in the diet;
  • limiting fluid intake per day;
  • eating foods enriched with potassium and calcium, but practically without sodium;
  • reducing the amount of animal protein entering the body;
  • introduction of increased amounts of vegetable fats and complex carbohydrates into the daily menu.

When using a different diet, you should follow the general recommendations, which are the same for any type of chronic glomerulonephritis. First of all, it is worth limiting (or completely eliminating) the intake of table salt, spicy, fried, smoked and salty foods, as well as alcoholic beverages. It is recommended to eat more foods rich in vitamins, and watermelon, melon, pumpkin and grapes are considered the most useful to eat. In cases where a person has proteinuria, it is necessary to increase the amount of protein in the diet.

Etiological therapy

Chronic glomerulonephritis develops as a consequence of the acute form of this disease, which in most cases is caused by a coccal infection (for example, influenza, tonsillitis, tonsillitis, scarlet fever or pharyngitis, which are caused by nephritogenic strains of microorganisms). In approximately 70 percent of patients, group A b-hemolytic streptococcus is detected, and in a third of cases, the etiology of acute glomerulonephritis cannot be determined. In addition, quite often patients experience “trench nephritis”: it is characterized by the patient’s prolonged stay in damp places at a constantly low temperature. Thus, when the body is overcooled, a reflex circulatory disorder in the kidneys occurs, which disrupts the immunological reactions in the body.

Etiological therapy consists of timely treatment of foci of chronic infections with antibiotics. In this case, under no circumstances should hypothermia be allowed, since if the patient has chronic glomerulonephritis, there is a high chance of developing an exacerbation of the described disease.

Pathogenetic therapy

When carrying out such treatment, the main effect is on the main mechanism that determines the development of chronic glomerulonephritis - an autoimmune inflammatory process, due to which therapy can significantly affect the progression and prognosis of the described disease. First of all, it is necessary to assess the severity of kidney damage, as well as the degree of activity of the pathological process, after which the diagnosis of exacerbation of chronic glomerulonephritis is substantiated. The pathogenetic principles of treatment are to influence the process of damage to the basement membrane and mesangium by antibodies and immune complexes, as well as the production of mediators of inflammatory foci and the activity of the kinin system. In addition, the process of coagulation inside blood vessels is affected, as well as phagocytosis.

In pathogenetic therapy, doctors use glucocorticoids, cytostatics, anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, aminoquinoline compounds. In this case, it is possible to use passive immunotherapy using anti-HLA antibodies, efferent and combination therapy. The use of any of these methods requires a detailed examination of the patient’s medical history by a doctor to ensure a guaranteed cure.

Symptomatic therapy

This type of treatment is resorted to mainly in cases where complications arise (often in pregnant women). For example, in case of aggravation after treatment with glucocorticoids, symptomatic therapy is carried out using alkalis, Vikalin, antihypertensive and diuretics, as well as hypoglycemic drugs. If this method does not show effectiveness, you should immediately stop using corticosteroids, as otherwise there is a high chance of developing a stomach ulcer, accompanied by perforation and bleeding. Sometimes patients experience increased hematuria (this also happens when the drug is stopped).

Symptomatic therapy, prescribed specifically in the case of the development of nephrotic glomerulonephritis, is the use of drugs with diuretic properties. These include Dichlorothiazide, Furosemide, ethacrynic acid, Polyglucin, Mannitol, Spironolactone, Aldactone, Veroshpiron. If mild swelling is observed, diuretics may be used. plant origin(for example, kidney tea from orthosiphon leaves, birch sap, etc.).

Phytotherapy

Traditional medicine is rich in recipes related to the treatment of chronic glomerulonephritis, since people have long wanted to know how to effectively cure such a disease. The main role in them is played by plants that have a pronounced diuretic effect on human body. In addition, some of them have a powerful antibacterial effect (these include lingonberry, birch and angelica). Among the most healthy vegetables and fruits that have the properties necessary for the treatment of chronic glomerulonephritis, watermelon, barberry, pear, melon, wild strawberry, White cabbage, gooseberries, cranberries.

Also of great importance are medicinal plant herbs that can be used to treat chronic glomerulonephritis. One of the most popular recipes presented in traditional medicine is as follows:

  • take 1 part of knotweed herb;
  • 1.5 parts of lingonberry, birch and budra grass leaves;
  • 2 parts calendula flowers;
  • 2.5 parts of oat seeds and dried grass;
  • 5 parts of rose hips and hawthorn;
  • pour boiling water and leave for room temperature;
  • Take the infusion one third of a glass three to four times a day half an hour before meals.

For the same purposes, a decoction of wild strawberry leaves, nettles, birch leaves and flax seeds, collected in a ratio of 1:1:2:5, can be used. This medicine must be taken 70-100 milliliters three to four times a day, as in the previous case, half an hour before meals.

Modern treatment regimen for glomerulonephritis

Since with the development of the chronic type of this disease, in a predominant number of cases, a disorder of the blood clotting process occurs, leading to the appearance of blood clots and impaired circulation in the kidneys, in modern methods of treating glomerulonephritis, much attention is paid to the use of antiplatelet agents and anticoagulants. These include Heparin (no more than 20 thousand units per day), Dipyridamole and Pentoxifylline. At the same time, the process drug treatment such patients must necessarily be comprehensive and consist of the use of medicines from various pharmacological groups. One of the most popular methods (and there are a huge number of them) of such therapy is a four-component treatment, which in detail is as follows:

The course of such treatment is about 6-8 weeks, and if necessary, it can be increased. Then the dosage of the drugs is gradually reduced to the values necessary to maintain the patient’s well-being in order.

Spa treatment

Of great importance in the treatment of chronic glomerulonephritis is the referral of the patient to sanatorium-resort treatment, especially in cases where the patient exhibits residual signs of acute glomerulonephritis (in most cases this is expressed by microscopic hematuria). In addition, this type of therapy is used when the chronic form of glomerulonephritis goes into remission.

Preference should be given to resorts where the climate is dry and hot (for example, Yalta, Sochi or Bayram-Ali), due to which the process of sweat separation is accelerated, through which nitrogen metabolism products are eliminated, which has a beneficial effect on kidney function. A strict contraindication to such treatment is the detection of symptoms of acute glomerulonephritis or the appearance of severe hematuria. Only by following these recommendations can you be sure whether the chronic form of glomerulonephritis can be treated with the help of spa therapy.

Herbal medicine for chronic glomerulonephritis has anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant, hypotensive, desensitizing, detoxifying, diuretic effects without significant loss of potassium in the urine, and also normalizes the permeability of the capillaries of the glomeruli.

The following plants have primarily a diuretic effect, and therefore are recommended mainly in the presence of moderate edema syndrome.

Infusion of birch leaves. 2 teaspoons of crushed leaves are poured into 200 ml of boiling water, left for 30 minutes, filtered through gauze, sodium bicarbonate is added to the filtrate at the tip of a teaspoon and drink 1/4 cup 4 times a day.

Infusion of birch buds. 10 g (1 1/2 tablespoons) of birch buds are placed in an enamel bowl, poured with 200 ml of hot boiled water, covered with a lid and heated in boiling water (in a water bath) for 15 minutes, cooled for 45 minutes at room temperature, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed into the filtrate. The volume of the resulting infusion is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water. Take 1/2-1/3 cup 2-3 times a day, warm, 20 minutes before meals.

Decoction of lingonberry leaves. 2 tablespoons of crushed leaves (6 g) are placed in an enamel bowl, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in boiling water (in a water bath) for 30 minutes, cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, filter through cheesecloth ; The remaining raw material is squeezed into the filtrate and the volume of the filtrate is adjusted to 200 ml. Take 1/2-1/3 cup 2-3 times a day.

Infusion of black elderberry flowers. It has a diuretic, diaphoretic, expectorant, and anti-inflammatory effect. 5 g (1 tablespoon) of elderberry flowers are placed in an enamel bowl, poured with 200 ml of hot boiled water and then an infusion is prepared in the same way as an infusion of birch buds. Take 1/2-1/3 cup 2-3 times a day.

Infusion of cornflower flowers. 1 tablespoon of flowers is poured into an enamel bowl with 200 ml of hot boiled water and then the infusion is prepared in the same way as the infusion of birch buds. Take 1-2 tablespoons 3-4 times a day.

Infusion of knotweed herb (knotweed). It has a diuretic effect, and also promotes the excretion of oxalates in the urine, prevents the formation of stones in the urinary tract, and causes an anti-inflammatory effect. 15 g (3 tablespoons) of the herb are placed in an enamel bowl, poured with 200 ml of hot boiled water and then the infusion is prepared in the same way as the infusion of birch buds. Take 1/2-1/3 glass 2-3 times a day before meals.

Decoction of burdock root. 10 g (1 tablespoon) of the root is placed in an enamel bowl, poured with 200 ml of hot boiled water and then prepared in the same way as a decoction of lingonberry leaves. Take 1/2 cup warm 2-3 times a day.

Infusion of kidney tea leaves (orthosiphon). 7-10 g of leaves (2-3 tablespoons) are placed in an enamel bowl, poured with 200 ml of hot boiled water and then the infusion is prepared in the same way as the infusion of birch buds. Take the infusion 1/2-1/3 cup 2-3 times a day for 4-6 months with monthly breaks of 5-6 days.

As a rule, treatment with medicinal plants lasts 1-2 months or longer.

The sweet clover included in collection No. 2 can be the equivalent of anticoagulant therapy (without its negative consequences).

If you have arterial hypertension, you can increase the amount of motherwort and marsh grass in the collections. These fees can be taken for a long time, alternating them. Every 2 months they take breaks for 1-2 weeks.

E. P. Shmerko, I. F. Mazan (1993) use the following types of herbal medicine: ingestion of medicinal preparations; use of fresh berries, fruits, fresh juices from leaves, berries; medicinal baths; phytoapplications for the lumbosacral region.

In case of severe exacerbation of chronic glomerulonephritis, it is advisable to exclude horsetail herb from collection No. 3 due to its possible irritating effect on the kidneys.

For patients with chronic glomerulonephritis, it is advisable to use fresh juices from dandelion leaves, horsetail, plantain, nettle, lungwort, and chicory. In the spring, it is recommended to use birch and maple sap, as well as young birch leaves infused with fresh birch sap. This infusion has a diuretic and disinfectant effect and, in addition, improves the trophism of the renal pelvis.

In spring it is necessary to use fresh salads from young leaves of nettle, dandelion, dill, lungwort, chicory, seasoned with vegetable oil.

In the autumn-winter period, when there are no fresh plants, it is necessary to take vitamin infusions rose hips, currants, blueberries, cranberries, blueberries, raspberries, nettles. These infusions have a diuretic effect and provide the body with vitamin C.

In accordance with the season, the patient should consume as often as possible fresh berries and fruits(blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, blackberries, currants, gooseberries, sea buckthorn, watermelon, grapes, apples, pears). They have a diuretic effect and provide the body with vitamins.

Therapeutic herbal baths are prescribed to patients with chronic glomerulonephritis using the following preparations (E. P. Shmerko, I. F. Mazan, 1993).

The duration of the bath is 10-15 minutes; after the bath you should not take a shower, but pat your body dry with a towel and go to bed. Take baths every other day. The course of treatment is 10-15 baths.

It is recommended to alternate phytoapplications on the lumbosacral region with baths (E. P. Shmerko, I. F. Mazan, 1993). Herbal applications, like phytobaths, improve blood circulation in the kidneys, enhance the effect of other therapeutic measures for chronic hepatitis, and have an anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effect.

Mix the collection. Take the amount of raw material required for the application (for phytoapplication 4-6 cm thick for each square centimeter of body surface, up to 50 g of collection is required), place it in an enamel bowl and pour hot water for 1 hour. Drain the water and squeeze the raw materials so that they remain well moistened. Spread the raw materials in an even layer on linen cloth or gauze, wrap it and apply the phytoapplication to the kidney area. Compress temperature is 38-42 °C. The procedure should be taken while lying down. An oilcloth and a blanket are placed over the compress. The duration of the procedure is 40-50 minutes, after which you need to stay in bed or in a comfortable chair for 2-3 hours. It is best to do phytoapplications on the head. 10-15 procedures are prescribed per course of treatment, alternating them with medicinal baths.

The preparation and use of collection No. 8 are the same as collection No. 7. Herbal applications are contraindicated during the period of exacerbation of CGN.

When chronic tonsillitis and sinusitis are detected in a patient with CGN and a causal relationship between exacerbation of CGN and chronic sinusitis is established, phytoapplications to the area of the maxillary sinuses are advisable (E. P. Shmerko, I. V. Mazan, 1993).

Mix the raw materials and place in an enamel bowl (quantity calculation - see collection N9 7), pour warm water for 30 min. Then drain the liquid, and scatter the raw material in an even layer on gauze, wrap it and, lightly squeezing out the excess liquid, apply it to the area of the nose and maxillary sinuses. To preserve heat, place an oilcloth and a towel on top. A course of treatment usually requires 7-10 procedures. If there is purulent content in the area of the maxillary sinuses, after the third session, abundant discharge of mucopurulent contents begins, which lasts about a week, after which turundas moistened with fresh juice or infusion of St. John's wort should be inserted into each nasal passage.

With the development of arterial hypertension, it is advisable to alternate the renal infusions described above with infusions that lower blood pressure.

Pour two tablespoons of collection No. 10 into 500 ml of boiling water, leave in a warm place for 1 hour, strain, add honey and lemon to taste. Take warm, 1 D glass 8-10 times a day.

Simultaneously with taking this collection orally, it is advisable to take medicinal herbal medicines with hypotensive effects.

100 g of raw material mixture pour 3 liters hot water, leave for 2 hours, strain, add 500-800 ml to the bath. Take a bath reclining, without immersing the chest. Water temperature - 33-35 °C, duration of the therapeutic bath - 10-15 minutes, number of sessions - 8-10. It is advisable to take baths at night.

Glomerulonephritis is a kidney disease characterized by inflammation of the glomeruli and excretory tubules. There are several methods for treating glomerulonephritis, including folk remedies. And, most likely, the doctor will select several such schemes.

If treatment is prescribed on time and it is adequate, then the symptomatic picture improves within three weeks, but you should not count on rapid kidney recovery. Full recovery can occur in six months. If the symptoms do not go away within a year, then we can say that the disease has become chronic.

With glomerulonephritis, blood pressure rises greatly and swelling appears. This is a consequence of the fact that the disease is inflammatory and often develops into a chronic form. Edema can be overcome if, in addition to drug therapy, glomerulonephritis is treated folk remedies, but only after agreement with your attending physician.

Is it possible to be treated with traditional methods?

It is worth understanding that treatment of acute glomerulonephritis can only be carried out in an inpatient setting, when anti-inflammatory and antibacterial drugs are prescribed. This is a very serious disease; in order to fully recover, you need the intervention of a doctor who will prescribe the necessary medications.

If signs and symptoms of glomerulonephritis are identified, the disease cannot be treated at home, without the help of a doctor. Only after examination at a medical institution and tests can a treatment regimen be agreed upon.

During such treatment, it is very important to reduce salt intake and remove spices from the diet for glomerulonephritis at home, which will facilitate the removal of fluid.

If a disease such as chronic glomerulonephritis is detected, then treatment can be carried out with folk remedies. Thanks to this technique, you can relieve swelling, lower blood pressure, and cope with general weakness of the body and pain.

Treatment of kidneys with folk remedies really helps, but you should use drinks, decoctions, herbal teas with caution, and always consult your doctor. Only in this case, recipes traditional medicine with glomerulonephritis will bring tangible benefits.

Then leave the fruit drink to steep in the refrigerator for at least 10 hours. After infusion, strain the drink and take half a liter per day.

Juices against glomerulonephritis

For glomerulonephritis, the doctor prescribes a diet and drinking regimen that must be followed. It is prohibited to consume anything smoked, spicy, fatty, fish or meat broths, canned food, and alcoholic beverages. All these products provoke an exacerbation of the disease, which can lead to chronic form, kidney failure or visual impairment.

You can eat lean fish and meat, fruits, vegetables, cereals, fermented milk products, compotes, fruit drinks, and juices. Nutrition also has its own rules:

  • Eat small portions 6 times a day;
  • The drinking regime requires the presence of fluid in the body, that is, the patient must drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day.

Juices from various fruits and vegetables can be used to treat glomerulonephritis:

  • Grate carrots (300 g), squeeze out the juice, drink before meals;

When the drink is ready, filter it and leave it to be stored in the cold. You should drink 2 glasses of kvass per day.

Methods using other folk remedies

You can use other folk remedies for glomerulonephritis to treat the patient.

  • Blood purification. Take dried apricots walnuts, raisins, prunes and mince, mix with honey and eat a tablespoon of this medicine 2 times a day. You can use walnuts with figs, lemon with peel and honey. The technology of preparation and consumption is the same.
  • Milk, as well as products derived from it, are used to treat glomerulonephritis. You just have to say right away that you won’t get away with a liter of milk – it won’t help. This product should be combined with berries, fruits or juices - these will be medicinal milkshakes. Milk should only be taken boiled:
  • 2 tbsp. l. juniper berries, pour 0.5 liters of boiling water, leave for 2 hours. Pour milk into the tank, where we add 2 tbsp. l. infusion, divide into 3 times, which we drink per day;
  • Add 2 tbsp. l. strawberry juice into milk (1 glass) - do not boil. Divide into 2 times and drink per day. Instead of strawberries, you can add juice from birch, carrots, plums, and lemon.
  • It is necessary that the patient’s diet includes pumpkin. During the day, eat pumpkin as a second course, and in the evening make juices from it.

Contraindications

As you can see, treatment with folk remedies for glomerulonephritis can be effective. But with such a disease, overwork, both physical and mental, is contraindicated; you cannot overcool, work at night, on the street, in a damp or hot workshop.

Correct, timely treatment is also very important; in each specific case, the scheme and methods may differ. It is worth saying that there may be contraindications for some methods of treatment with folk remedies, but this must be agreed with a doctor.

If a woman is diagnosed with chronic glomerulonephritis, she should neither become pregnant nor give birth. If the form of the disease is latent, then this issue is resolved individually for each patient.

Herbal medicine for chronic glomerulonephritis reduces intoxication of the body, has an anti-inflammatory effect, lowers blood pressure, has a diuretic effect, improving kidney function.

Infusions and decoctions that have a diuretic effect can be used in the presence of moderate edema syndrome.

Infusion of birch leaves

Required: birch leaves - 2 teaspoons.
Preparation. Pour birch leaves with 1 glass of boiling water, leave for 30 minutes, strain, add a pinch of tea soda.

Prevention

Prevention of chronic glomerulonephritis comes down to rapid diagnosis and adequate treatment of acute glomerulonephritis.

More

Glomerulonephritis is a kidney disease of an infectious or allergic nature, in which the glomerular apparatus is selectively affected. Effective treatment glomerulonephritis depends on a number of factors, such as: the form and stage of the disease, the general condition of the patient, and how promptly the patient consulted a doctor and began therapy.

What treatment methods are there for glomerulonephritis? We will analyze them below, paying attention to the growing popularity of traditional medicine.

All patients in the acute stage of glomerulonephritis must be hospitalized. The regimen, depending on the severity of the clinic, should be bed rest or strict bed rest. This is due to the fact that the patient’s body needs uniform heating and a balanced temperature regime (optimizes kidney function). The duration of hospitalization for acute glomerulonephritis varies from 2 weeks to a month on average, or until symptoms disappear, and can be extended, taking into account the effectiveness of treatment.

During the period of remission, a patient with glomerulonephritis is recommended to avoid severe physical activity, observe gentle temperature regime. This is especially true for the acute period, as well as for patients diagnosed with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis.

Diet therapy

General nutritional recommendations for glomerulonephritis - diet No. 7a. In particular, patients need to limit the consumption of protein foods and table salt to prevent peripheral edema and hypertension. Products should be hypoallergenic, which will reduce the reactivity of the kidney capillaries. It is advisable to eat foods rich in potassium and fiber, especially in the case of corticosteroid therapy.

Symptomatic treatment

In the presence of arterial hypertension (especially with edema), short courses of diuretics or other antihypertensive drugs are prescribed. In addition, agents are used to strengthen the capillary wall of kidney vessels, antioxidants and lipid-lowering drugs. Enough effective method To get rid of peripheral edema, treatment of glomerulonephritis with folk remedies has proven effective, due to the fact that diuretics are often contraindicated for patients (this does not apply to the acute period).

Antibacterial therapy

To treat glomerulonephritis, antibiotics are prescribed if an infectious component is proven in the development of the disease. Almost always this is a sore throat 2-3 weeks before the start of the acute phase, or another infection where the agent is β-hemolytic streptococcus. Usually penicillin, oxacillin, ampicillin or ampiox are used, 250 thousand or 500 thousand units 4 times a day intramuscularly. If the patient is diagnosed with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis, interferon is additionally used.

Immunosuppressive therapy

One of the most important links in the pathogenesis of acute glomerulonephritis is the damaging effect of the body's own antibodies on the glomeruli of the kidneys. They can be produced either cross-produced by streptococcus or by the glomerular capillaries themselves. Therefore, suppression of the immune response is one of the most important tasks in a number of forms of glomerulonephritis and immunosuppressants are included in many treatment regimens.

If a diagnosis of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis is made, the so-called pulse therapy regimen is used. In this case, the patient is given loading doses of the drug, mainly intravenously, over several days, and then the dosage is reduced to the usual level. Cytostatics (Prednisolone and other corticosteroids) are mainly used.

Prednisolone is prescribed at 1 mg per kg of body weight per day for 1.5–2 months, followed by a reduction in dosage to maintenance (20 mg per day), and gradual withdrawal. Of the cytostatics, Cyclophosphamide is mainly prescribed at a dosage of 2 mg per kg of body weight per day, and Chlorambucil at a dosage of 0.1 mg per kg of body weight per day.

After achieving remission and targeted withdrawal of immunosuppressants, it is recommended to treat glomerulonephritis with herbal remedies or folk remedies.

Multicomponent treatment regimens

  1. Steinberg's scheme.
    Cyclophosphamide 1000 mg is administered intravenously once a month for a year.
    The next 2 years - once every 3 months, the next 2 years - once every 6 months.
  2. Ponticelli scheme.
    Pulse therapy with prednisolone 1 thousand mg per day, for 3 days, then 27 days at 30 mg per day. Prednisolone alternates with a cytostatic - next month chlorambucil 0.2 mg per kg of weight.
  3. Four-component scheme.
    Prednisolone 30 mg per day for two months, with gradual withdrawal.
    Cytostatic until target remission.
    Heparin 5 thousand units 4 times a day for a month, with a transition to aspirin.
    Dipyridamole at a dosage of 400 mg per day. The scheme is especially relevant for the diagnosis of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis.

Normalization of rheological properties of blood

With glomerulonephritis, the process of blood clotting is almost always disrupted, due to the fact that platelets “stick together” and settle on the walls of blood vessels. And this already leads to further formation of blood clots and disruption of the blood supply to the glomeruli of the kidneys. Modern treatment regimens for glomerulonephritis actively use antiplatelet agents and anticoagulants, such as Heparin (up to 20 thousand units per day), Dipyridamole and Pentoxifylline.

Phytotherapy

Herbal medicine and folk remedies play a significant role in an integrated approach to the prevention and treatment of glomerulonephritis. But we should not forget that these methods are used in the remission stage or in the chronic form of glomerulonephritis.
The effects of herbal medicine:

  • anti-inflammatory;
  • antiallergic;
  • anticoagulant;
  • diuretic;
  • membrane stabilizing;

Let us consider in more detail the methods of treatment with folk remedies and the main herbal remedies:

  • decoction for kidneys from wild strawberries;
  • a decoction of birch leaves and flaxseed;
  • a decoction of nettle and steelhead root;
  • a collection of rose hips, bearberry, hop cones, birch leaves, black currants, large plantain, juniper fruits, wild strawberries and horsetail grass;
  • collection for buds from brown rose hips, kidney tea, string, calendula and yarrow.

Of decisive importance in the treatment of glomerulonephritis with folk remedies is the correct selection of combinations and dosages of natural phytocomponents. This will help achieve the proper diuretic and tonic effect, and will reduce the burden of medications on the body.

Possible complications of the disease

Glomerulonephritis during the acute period (and especially the rapidly progressive form) is dangerous due to the following complications:

  • heart failure;
  • visual impairment up to blindness;
  • renal failure;
  • stroke;
  • nephroencephalopathy.

Quite often, if treatment with folk remedies or standard treatment regimens is ineffective (sometimes in the case of an acute process), plasmapheresis or blood transfusion (albumin, platelet mass, plasma) may be necessary. After suffering acute glomerulonephritis and achieving remission, sanatorium treatment is recommended. Mostly, there is a need to change the climate zone to a coastal or desert one, since hot weather increases sweating, improves kidney function and accelerates metabolism, which has a beneficial effect on the recovery process. In this case, the effect will improve if simultaneous treatment with folk remedies and herbal medicine is used.

Thus, it becomes clear that glomerulonephritis is a dangerous disease, which is characterized by a severe course and affects many body systems. Therefore, treatment of glomerulonephritis should be carried out strictly under the supervision of a qualified physician. After all, only a specialist can create a competent and comprehensive treatment approach, depending on the individual characteristics every patient.
